About this painting
The theme has many meanings. Its first impulse was a woman who is expecting – a little person coming into the world, family, our needs, protecting the family's interests. How many times a day do we each find ourselves there: protecting our own interests, having expectations of ourselves and of others. Over time this discipline becomes consuming, and then, at best, comes that much-longed-for lightness of being – not tormenting ourselves with trifles, simply being able to “be” free and ourselves.
I decided to publish this painting as available, even though it was a commission with a deposit paid. The family was expecting, and then so was I, because for a long time my requests to get in touch went unanswered. Today, on 26 October 2026, my expectation turned into a free decision to let the painting go its own way and make room for another collector.
